๐ผ Find a Job
Before You Start
The Paris job market is competitive but full of opportunities, especially if you network. Finding a job may take several weeks or months depending on your profile. Patience and perseverance are key.
Language Requirements
Speaking French is often essential in most sectors, especially in administration, healthcare, sales, and customer service. However, there are English-speaking opportunities in tech, startups, and international companies.
Applying for Jobs
CVs should be one to two pages, tailored for the job. A photo is common but not mandatory. Motivation letters are important and usually required. Applications are ideally in French unless otherwise specified.
Interviews
Interviews are usually formal. Expect questions about your motivation, skills, and experience. Multiple rounds are common, including personality or technical interviews.
Job Offers & Contracts
Salary negotiations are common, but offers are often firm. Know the local collective agreements. Once accepted, contracts (CDI, CDD) are signed with clear trial periods.
Working as an Employee
Be aware of the probation period (1-3 months), monthly salary payments, and the 35-hour workweek norm. Employee rights and benefits are robust.
Hiring as an Employer
Registering the company and employee with URSSAF is required. Employment contracts must follow French labor law. Mandatory health insurance and payslips are needed.
